Currently Obsessing...

I am currently obsessing over kitten heels. I think the high, high heel is out the door, especially for me. Being 4'10, I'm super short and love wearing heels to give that much needed extra height, but most high heels are very uncomfortable and hard to walk in. The kitten heel is perfect to amp up any outfit while giving you the comfort and support needed to go all day. I think they're great to wear with pants, dresses and even shorts. I'll be wearing kitten heels all spring and summer long.

Foodie Friday

Welcome to a new weekly segment, called Foodie Friday. I will try and post a new receipt or food love every Friday that I've tried out myself and tell you guys my thoughts.
________________________________________________________________________________
This week I decided to try out a receipt I saw on the Rachael Ray Show.
"No Measure" Lemon Glaze Cake
Ingredients:
1 7-ounce container of plain Greek yogurt
1 7-ounce cup full of canola oil
1 7-ounce cup full of sugar
 2 eggs
Zest of 1 lemon
 2 7-ounce cups full of self-rising flour
A pinch of salt
 For the glaze:
1 7-ounce cup full of powdered sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
 A handful of poppy seeds
Whipped cream, for serving

Preheat your oven to 350'F.
Using an electric hand mixer, beat together Greek yogurt, oil, sugar, eggs and lemon zest until well combined. Slowly add in self-rising flour and a pinch of salt. Mix until the batter is lump-free/creamy and starts to form ribbons as its being mixed.
Pour the batter into a non-stick Bundt pan or tall-sided cake pan (make sure to grease up your pan with non-stick cooking spray), bake for 35 minutes. Test the case with a toothpick to ensure that its fully baked. If the toothpick doesn't come out clean, cook the cake for 5 minutes more and check again. Remove cake and let cool.
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice to make the glaze. One cake is cool, brush half of the glaze onto the cake using a pastry brush. Let the glaze sit for 15 minutes and then apply a second coat with the remaining glaze. While he glaze is still wet, sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Slice and serve with whipped cream.

I hope everyone enjoys this weeks recipe. I loved that I could use the 7 ounce yogurt container to add the other ingredients. I love baking, but I hate getting out all my measuring cups. This is perfect for all us lazy bakers out there! I think this will be my go to, guilty free desserts for spring and summer.

Neutrals

So, ignore the poor picture quality, I'm trying to get a better camera and as we all know times are tough and money is tight! Saving my pennies though!
The weather has been a little on the chilly side for April and I'm still trying to get away with wearing sweaters. This look is very comfy, yet work appropriate.

Weekend Wrap up

Happy Monday Ya'll! Did everyone have a great weekend? I did, nothing like a nice, quite and relaxing weekend getting things done and lounging at home. I participated in a community resource fair on Saturday; this fair was to help spread awareness to the community of local resources in the area. We had a great turn out and were able to raffle off some pretty cool prizes to just about everyone in attendance.
Nathan and I, also ventured over to Aldi to do some shopping. We were so impressed with the prices of everything and the wide range of products. We came under budget with everything we had on our list, plus more. I even snagged these adorable decorative mirrors for only $10!

Did everyone survive Lilly Sunday? I can't believe the madness at every Target. Unfortunately, I wasn't  able to get anything for myself at the store or online. Everything sold out within minutes. *Sad Face! I'm hoping they will restock, so I can purchase something without having to buy on Ebay for double and triple the cost, crazy right! I've linked some other Lilly items that I've had my eye on for a while. Maybe one day my cheap side will cave and I can purchase one of these!

Cozy Spring

My "sweet" chihuahua, Capone

I love this time of year because I can get away with wearing an over sized sweater without being too hot. I love being comfy and an over sized sweater paired with leggings, just screams comfort to me! I I think they're great to dress up for a work look or down to bum around the house.
I recently picked this blue/white sweater up from Bella Ella Boutique, but it quickly sold out after I purchased it. I've linked some similar options below if you're interested.
Happy Friday Ya'll

YSL Mascara Review

When you think of the brand YSL, you automatically think high end, luxurious and expensive. I know if I spend my hard earned dollars to purchase something expensive then I obviously want to it work well and live up to the high end name it advertises.
Well, this is a prime example of why high end is not always worth it's price. I received this product for review purposes, so this is my complete and honest opinion.
I was so excited to receive this product to test out. YSL has been know for its very luxurious packaging and high class products, so I was expecting this mascara to be on point! This mascara calms to add volume to lashes and length, but I hardly experience either calm. I've read a few other reviews and its 50/50, so there were a few ladies who had good results with this mascara. Unfortunately, for me, it was nothing but a disappointment. I really had high hopes that this would be a great mascara due to my experience with other YSL products I've sampled in the past.
I think the brush type maybe the reason why I wasn't able to experience great results. As you can see from the pictures below, this is a very think, fat brush and all the bristles are very close together. I wasn't able to really grab my lashes and coat them like I normally do.

On the plus side to this product, it really makes my lashes dark and pop. YSL also offers 3 different color options as well. I personally haven't tried the other colors, but if the color payoff is great like the black version does then that's one plus. In my opinion, I've seen drug store mascaras that offer a colored hue to them as well, I personally wouldn't spend the money on this just because of the color.  One other pro to this mascara is the packaging!  I do love the packaging, the gold casting is so luxurious and it's actually a little heavy, which is a little surprising for a mascara. Sometimes it's just nice to have something that makes you feel super fancy, you know?. But again for the price, there are way too many great drug store mascaras out there that perform 100% better. I don't know if this is just me, but I've only come across one high end mascara that I believe is worth it's money. So in my opinion, don't spend your money on this, spend the $7-$9 on a fabulous drug store brand like  L'Oreal; they carry my favorite mascara currently.

What are some of your favorite mascara, high end or drug store?

Top 10 High End Beauty Products

I'm such a makeup junkie, anything new I always have to try out. I'm a huge fan of drugstore makeup. Not only is it affordable, but the quality is only getting better and better. If you missed my top 10 drugstore list, check that out here. However, high end makeup still has my heart. There are somethings that I just can't live without and will spend the few extra dollars to make sure they're always in my collection.

Here is my top 10 list of high end beauty products.

10. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask- This stuff is addicting. If you love chap stick, then you'll fall head over heels for this stuff. I use this every night before bed and my lips are always super soft in the morning. I reviewed this products forever ago, check out my thoughts.

9. The Balm Blushes- all their blushes are great, but the INSTAIN collection is spot on. Perfect pigmentation and the staying power is crazy!

8. Anastasia Brow Wiz- now I know it may seem crazy to spend money on a brow pencil, but nothing compares to this. This is the most natural pencil I have used, and it stays on all day long.

7. Mac Lipsticks- lip products are one of my many weakness, but Mac lipsticks are my favorite. I seem to have quite the large collection of this brand. I've not met a color or finish I wasn't in love with.

6. Sigma Brushes- how do I apply my makeup you ask, with these brushes. Very affordable and the quality is amazing. No shedding, easy to clean and so easy to work with. Perfect application every time.

5. Anastasia Clear Brow Gel- Again, Anastasia knows her stuff when it comes to brows. This gel is like glue, your brows won't budge with this stuff.

4. Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray- I can't finish my makeup with out his product. It locks everything in place and keeps me matte and fresh looking throughout the day. I swear by this product.

3. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors- the best highlighters ever made! If I could own all of them would. Intense highlights ranging in shades to suit every skin tone, leaving you looking dewy and fresh. These are great to amp up any look.

2. Mac Pro Longwear Concealer- this concealer has to be a gift from the heavens, haha. Covers all dark circles, never settles into fine lines or creases. This is a must for me when applying makeup.

1. Purity Face Wash- I believe a great makeup application starts with a clean face. This face wash cleans so well, I never have to worry about left behind residue or dirt. When I switch to another wash, I always come back to this. I can see a big difference in my skin when I use this constantly. Highly recommended this to everyone.

I hope you guys enjoyed my list, if you try out anything I mentioned above be sure to comment below and let me know how it works for you!

Weekend Essentials

Weekend Trip
____________________________________________________
This weekend, Nathan and I are traveling to Paducah to celebrate a family members birthday. When ever we travel, I like to plan everything out, like what to bring, wear and so on.
I'm not 100% sure what this weekend entails, but I thought it would be best to pack light and bring nothing but the essentials; money, comfy shoes and maybe some great accessories. I'll also probably bring my "new" Dooney and Bourke cross body bag that I found while thrifting, I think it would be perfect for travel. If you missed my post about my Dooney, check it out here
I'm really hoping for good weather this weekend! Fingers crossed

What are you guys doing this weekend?

Thrift Store Finds

I am beyond excited to share my latest thrift store finds. Everyone who knows me, knows how I love to hunt through thrift stores to find everything from clothing, accessories to home decor. Anything I can find at an unbelievable price, I always pick up.
While hunting through one of my local thrift stores this past weekend, I stumbled upon these two gorgeous vintage Dooney and Bourke bags for $10. I couldn't believe my eyes, someone really just tossed these aside, when they have so much more life left in them. Their loss, is now my vintage treasure!
I can't decide if I want to keep one, both or resale them. I've done my research and these two specific bags are worth a nice chunk of change compared to what I paid for them. They both have all their hard wear and have no real damage other than regular wear. Maybe I'll hang on to them for a while, I know I will get great use out of both, these will go great with my already very large handbag collection.

What do you guys think?
