Thrifted Thursday

Since I promised myself I would only purchase clothing items for myself at the thrift store for the entire year, I thought it would be fun to do a weekly series called, "Thrifted Thursday". It would feature my favorite pieces and what my entire outfit costs. My favorite part of thrifting is bragging what a deal I found!
My latest trip, I wanted to focus on finding more spring and summer items; vibrant colors and prints to get me out of the winter blues. I instantly spotted this light pink shawl from across the room and new I had to have it regardless of the size. It was a little over sized, but I found a white leather belt to cinch in the waist. And of course, while checking out I came across this vintage hunter green leather cross body and couldn't possibly pass it up.

No, the bulldog wasn't thrifted.  Lemmy, our year old English Bulldog was in a mood to play while my husband was snapping my outfit pictures, so i thought I'd feature her this week as well!

Outfit Details $32.98:
Pink Shawl (Thrifted $3.99)
Polka Dot Tee (Walmart, gifted)
White Leather Belt (Thrifted, $1.00)
Jeggings (Jane.com, $14) -- I live in these, having multiples helps!
Flats (Target, $10)
Leather Crossbody Bag (Thrifted, $3.99)

Yellow

Well, I'm a working girl again. Wednesday was my first day back at the office from, what felt like a very short maternity leave. I wish I could have stayed home with my sweet Staley, but I think all moms feel this way when they have to go back to work. Am I right?
Since it was my first back in the office in almost 3 months, I wanted to be as comfy as possible! I mean I'm used to wearing nothing but t-shirts and sweats (not office appropriate!) I thought this bright and lose yellow plaid top would be perfect to wear with a pair of black leggings. This is my first yellow anything, I usually don't gravitate to yellow clothing, but I found this at the thrift store and for only $3 I'd be crazy to not give it a try.

That's what I love about thrifting, I get to try out colors and prints I would have never purchased for myself at any other clothing store.

Outfit Details:
Yellow Top (Thrifted, Goodwill)
Leggings (Old Navy)
Purse (Coach)
Loafers (Bluetique)
Glasses (BCBG Max Aria)

Blazer Basics

Blazers are by far one of my favorite things to wear. I think they look good on everyone, they're great paired with jeans, dresses or slacks. They take a boring outfit and turn it into style. My closet is filled with all types of blazers, different styles and colors. One of my favorites by far is this striped, cotton blazer from Talbots.I found it at my local Goodwill before Christmas and have been wearing it to death every since.  Since its a more causal style, I paired it with a pair of jean skinny's, black tee and my Kate Spade bag to add a slight pop of color for Spring.

Outfit Details:
Talbots Blazer (thrifted, Goodwill)
Black tee (Old Navy)
Jean Skinny's (Jane.com)
Black Heels (Bluetique)
Kate Spade Purse (Kate Spade.com)
Glasses: (BCBG Max Azria)

I'm winding down my maternity leave and looks like this will be my go to when I get back into the office life. Bye bye sweat pants!

Kisses,

Causal Dress and Fresh Locks

Back in the swing of outfit posts! Man does it feel good.
Today was the first super nice day of April and I took full advantage of the weather and wore a simple tee shirt dress with a bright colored pair of Keds. Surprisingly, I purchased this dress from Walmart when I was pregnant (even though its not a maternity dress) and due to still carrying a few extra pregnancy pounds it still fits. I thought the coral sweater and Keds really "Springed" up the outfit.

Outfit Details: Dress (Similar) Sweater (Ralph Lauren) Shoes (Keds) Bracelet (J.Crew) Watch (Pandora-SOLD OUT) Crossbody (Vintage Dooney & Burke)

And for those who noticed, yes I did chop all my hair off. It feels so good to have a shorter, more manageable style. Now I've just gotta get used to styling it.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

2016 Thrifting Challenge

I'm a lover of thrifting, finding unloved, unwanted treasures to add to my closet. The word has been spreading around the thrifting community to complete a 2016 thrifting challenge. What is this you might ask? Well, its a promise to only purchase second hand clothing for the entire year. Seeing as we're already well into 2016, I'm a little behind. But who can blame me, I just had a baby in February and have been in the mom zone ever since. Now that my maternity leave is coming to an end, I have to get back into the real world.
Going back to work still carrying some baby weight has limited my wardrobe and now being a mother, I'm even more cash savvy then I was before. So I decided to dive into the thrifting challenge and find some new pieces to welcome to my closet. I was able to sneak out of the house a couple weeks ago and went shopping for the first time since before my sweet Staley was born.

Here are a few things I snagged at my local Goodwill.
LOFT Sweaters - Loft Cream Sweater
Liz Claiborne Sweaters - Liz Claiborne Striped SweaterCoach Bags - Vintage Coach Willis Bag 9927
Old Navy Shoes - Snake Print Flats

Both sweaters I found are in excellent condition and will be perfect for spring. I also, was beyond excited to find another Vintage Coach Willis bag. I found one while thrifting about a year ago and decided to recently sell it, I may end up hanging on to this one for a while. Before I officially go back to work I'm hitting up Goodwill one last time to see what else I can find. If you're into thrifting as much as I am, try the 2016 thrift challenge. You'll be amazed at what you can find and the money you will save!

Also, I really hope I can get back into the swing of blogging. I really enjoyed it before, but with my pregnancy and becoming a first time mother, it has been the last thing on my mind. I promise to not stay away too long this time!

Happy Thrifting Friends!
